Codex Entry
Talora's name comes from the Navigators' liquid-dominant naming grammar (world-bible/02-naming-grammar.md) — talor-, the long view, the far horizon. She's mapped further than any other Navigator in the Meridian, which the flavor text's antithesis makes precise: she was never claiming to see a future no one else could reach. She was reading a pattern that was already there, the same way anyone can once they know to look.
Where Kael Vorten is the faction that becomes what it fights and Kavond is the faction whose brittleness the Singularity exposes, Talora is what happens when a mandated weakness — seeing every path makes you slower to commit to one — gets paired with an Apex-tier information engine strong enough that the weakness stops mattering. She isn't fast. She's already several turns ahead of needing to be.
How This Card Plays
Talora runs the best information engine of any Agent in the Preview Pack. Her passive fires Scan 2 at the start of every one of your turns — sustained, ongoing archive control that never runs out. Her Deploy front-loads Scan 5 plus a draw the instant she lands, making an early Talora especially valuable: the sooner she's down, the more turns of Scan 2 you bank.
Both her moves print ⚡1 — a low, matched Surge signature that keeps her off the Singularity Clock almost entirely. SIGHT LINE and FORECAST hit for a modest 5 and 8; she was never built to close games with raw damage. The information is the win condition — sequencing your next several draws better than your opponent can plan around.
Rulings & Interactions
- SCAN never draws cards — it only looks at and reorders the top cards of your Archive. Her Deploy's "then draw 1 card" is a separate, explicit draw effect layered on top of the Scan.
- The Scan 2 passive is a static ability tied to the start-of-turn timing window — distinct from her Deploy trigger (fires once, on entry) and from her moves (fire when used in Clash).
- As a Human Agent with the lowest combined move Surge in the Preview Pack (⚡1 + ⚡1), Talora contributes minimally to the Singularity Clock even across a long game — consistent with the Navigators' faction-wide low-Surge signature.
Collector Notes
Talora's approved art is a forward-facing, warm-lit noir portrait — amber elevated-rail lighting, industrial night skyline, no real-world transit trademarks in frame. It replaced an earlier concept whose signage read too close to real NYC transit branding, a clean example of the game's originality floor being enforced at the concept stage rather than after approval.
